Being ready for school

Starting school is a big step for both you and your child. We, at Riddings Infant and Nursery School do our very best to ensure that when your child starts school it is a happy and memorable experience.

Our Reception staff spend time in our nursery getting to know the children before they start school and they also visit other settings to meet children before they start with us.

We offer two transition visits to school which give you as parents and your child a taste of what to expect when your child starts school.

There are ways that you can help to ensure that your child is 'school ready'.

Derbyshire has produced a leaflet, Ready for School, which lists 10 things that children who a developing typically should be able to do when they start school. If you go to Derbyshire County Councils website and search Working together to be ready for school, you will find more information relating to this.
