Religious Education
Religious Education or RE enables pupils to “learn from religions and world views about different ways of life and to discover, explore and consider many different answers to questions about human identity, meaning and value.” RE also allows a child to “think rigorously, creatively, imaginatively and respectfully about their ideas in relation to religion and world views.”Derbyshire and Derby City Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2020-2025

The aims of Religious Education (RE) at Riddings Infant and Nursery School are to:

  • To ensure the children develop a broad understanding of different faiths and to promote their moral, spiritual and cultural development
  • To encourage children to have respect and empathy for other people’s different needs, views, faiths, beliefs and cultures
  • To allow the children to develop their own sense of identity and belonging.

Religious Education (RE) is taught in clearly identified blocks within the Early Years and in Year 1 and weekly within Year 2 and is encapsulated within outdoor provision. RE throughout school is structured around the Derbyshire and Derby City Agreed Syllabus for RE 2020-2025
