Curriculum update - Autumn 2021

                                         Our school KINDER values
The children have certainly been showing all these attributes in our KINDER values throughout their learning in class and outside on the playground over the last 7 weeks of term.

Y2 – Indigo & Violet  We’ve certainly had a very busy start to the year in Indigo and Violet class! As well as welcoming a very special meerkat friend, Sunny, into class we’ve also been out and about in the local area and created maps of our walk around Riddings, learnt how to draw self-portraits and improved our athletic skills in PE. Almost all of us can now also say we’re able to ride a bike without stabilisers! A fantastic achievement! We can’t wait to see what the next half term brings!

Year 1 Green & Blue  In Year 1 this term we have been finding out lots about Great Britain. We thought carefully about our local area and how to draw maps from school to our homes. Both classes really enjoyed exploring the Autumn changes and producing some beautiful art work inspired by nature. Finally, we have also been learning about
Queen Elizabeth II. We became master builders and created our own versions of Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

Reception – Orange & Yellow  In Reception this term we have been exploring the topic “All About Me”. We have been learning all about ourselves, our friends and families, finding out how we are all different and all special. In Yellow class we have enjoyed learning our Pirate Number songs and using these in our play too, we are really good at finding different numbers all around Reception! In Orange class we have enjoyed the story of Owl Babies, re-telling the story and even creating our own version, we love stories and love to take turns at being the storytellers ourselves!

Nursery – Red  In Nursery this term, our main focus has been on settling the children into Nursery routines, the children have all been doing amazing! We have enjoyed sharing the Owl Babies story together, learning through many different activities based on the book including; new vocabulary, cutting out and sticking owls, colouring owl pictures, making owl nests from leaves and feathers, playing with owls in our classroom tree, making playdough owls and enjoying re-telling the story together. In Nursery we have enjoyed sharing lots of stories, nursery rhymes and using interactive learning games together.  We have all been learning to speak and listen to our friends as a class, during our Circle Time as part of our PHSE.  The children have loved talking about their families with the photos provided.  Thanks you for sharing these with us!
